Masonic Charitable Foundation
Over the years, freemasons have donated over £10 million to fund ground-breaking and life-saving medical research – and now we’re turning their attention to degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s.
👩🔬 Last year, we awarded £200,000 to Alzheimer's Research UK to fund two PhD studentships.
🧠 Memory loss is the most devastating symptom of Alzheimer’s disease, but scientists are still not certain how or why this occurs. Thanks to this funding, a new PhD student at the University of Edinburgh has just embarked on a very exciting study which will use a new technique called optogenetics which could help solve this puzzle.
